The Next Tetris , released in 1999 , is a puzzle game that returns to the series' roots, ditching the Disney characters, 3D pieces, hats, and letters that were introduced in previous entries.
The game features the standard Tetris game as well as some variants, including puzzle pieces made of individual parts that can break off after a piece lands, "wiggly" pieces that provide eye-candy and allow for tricky piece placements, and challenge modes where you must clear a cluttered playfield with limited time/pieces.
You can play The Next Tetris solo or competitively simultaneously with friends. The game also allows you to link to a global board via the Internet to compare scores and times.
