Way of the Samurai 2 is designed to offer an authentic gaming experience, with deep sword-fighting system and cause-and-effect role-playing found in the original game. The graphics have been boosted and the interface enhanced. Characters can acquire up to 60 different swords, and with the proper equipment and practice, perform more than 100 different special moves.
The adventure begins as the player's lone samurai warrior comes upon a small, remote village mired in internal dispute between traditional village leaders who favor fealty to feudalistic powers, and a group of outlaw rebels known as the Aoto who vehemently oppose acquiescence to regional authority. The player must bring resolution to this conflict and peace to the town in whatever way he deems best.
The game features a realistic day and night cycle, as well as various strategic elements. Players can talk to characters, accept tasks, and shop for new items. Decisions made by the player influence relationships with different groups. With 60 swords, hammers, and clubs to choose from, players must keep a variable quality and durability level in mind.
Players can perform both offensive and defensive moves, as well as special actions. Swords can be enhanced or upgraded in stores, according to the player's fighting style. The game offers a challenging experience for fans of action & adventure games on PlayStation 2.
Way of the Samurai 2 was released on November 24, 2000 for PlayStation 2.
