Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is the third installment of the third-person shooter Army of Two series. In this game, players stray away from the protagonists in the first two games, Salem and Rios, and play as two different Tactical Worldwide Operations (T.W.O.) operatives, Alpha and Bravo. Alpha and Bravo are hired by a Mexican Mayor by the name of Cordova, who hires the two to take down the ruthless drug cartel La Guadana and its leader, Estaban Bautista.
The game focuses on co-op play, with less emphasis on teamwork when approaching situations and more on regular shootouts. The customizable environment allows players to destroy and manipulate objects to gain an advantage. The scoring system rewards kills with cash, which also serves as experience points. Depending on the player's approach, different rewards can be earned. Filling the Overkill gauge activates a mode where the character becomes invulnerable for a short time, gaining unlimited ammo, slowed-down time, and increased damage.
