Blitz: The League II is the sequel to Blitz: The League , where once again the player steps into a fantasy football league with a darker tone. This version still has the same features as its predecessor, including Exhibition mode, where players can go one-on-one against the CPU or a friend, and Campaign mode, where the player takes control of a coach assigned to a struggling team and brings them up to prominence by training players through various means. The campaign mode features a constantly changing storyline about the lives of the star athletes. The Clash Mode is back, built around hitting opponents with late hits to unleash a powerful tackle that can turn the game around at any moment. Injuries are still present, with enhanced and realistic graphics showing broken bones and torn tissue through x-rays of the players' bodies at the moment of impact.
A new feature is the ability to pinpoint the location of an opposing player's body before hitting them, with larger areas increasing the chances of a hit but requiring precision timing for smaller areas. This adds a layer of strategy to the game.
The game also features online capabilities, allowing players to connect through their service and engage in quick versus matches against friends or participate in an online campaign mode. The game includes the voice talents of NFL legends such as Lawrence Taylor, Jay Mohr, and Frank Caliendo, who provide their voices for the experience.
