Cabela's Survival: Shadows of Katmai is an action-adventure game that deviates from typical Cabela's gaming fare. Its focus is on survival rather than hunting, incorporating Cabela's-themed elements into an action-packed experience.
The story follows Logan James, a pilot who crash-lands in Alaska while delivering important cargo. With the plane destroyed and supplies scarce, Logan must use his wits to survive and escape the mountain alive. As he ventures deeper into the wilderness, he faces numerous threats from wild animals such as bears, wolves, cougars, and birds.
The game is designed for the Playstation 3 console and features a unique blend of action-adventure gameplay and hunting mechanics. The Top Shot Elite gun peripheral is used for precise aiming and targeting, with manual control using the controller's right stick. Players can perform "Focus Shots" to slow down time and accurately place their shots.
