Dreams is an action-packed adventure game that follows the story of Cotton, who must find the missing magic "Bluewater Willow" from the Kingdom's treasury. With the help of his rival Appli, they embark on a perilous journey to search for the treasure and battle against all the enemies they encounter along the way.

The gameplay in Dreams builds upon the 2D-side scrolling shooter roots of its predecessors with new spells, elemental weapons, and an energy bar that allows players to take a few hits before going down. Players can also trigger special "command" shots by using specific controller moves and earn more power-ups and items through a hit-combo system.
