Ratchet & Clank

Ratchet is trying to join the Galactic Rangers on his home planet of Veldin, but is dismissed by Captain Quark once he finishes the qualification course. Following the escape of Clank, who crash lands on Veldin, the duo sets off to save the galaxy from Chairman Drek following a trail of infobots.

The gameplay features both Ratchet and Clank as playable characters. Ratchet is aided by Clank in movement with the Helipack, which can later be upgraded to the Thrusterpack. Some planets allow the use of the Jetpack, allowing Ratchet to fly in the air. There are times when the player takes control of Clank, escaping from Victor von Ion or traversing puzzles using Gadgebots.

Players can level up both Ratchet and his weapons. Ratchet's health can be leveled up to 200, while his weapons can reach a maximum level of 5. The Omega version of the weapons unlocks up to 10 levels. Upgrading the weapons is done through Raritanium, using a grid in the weapon vendor with special unlocks once certain tiles have been surrounded by basic upgrades.

Collectibles include Holocards, which collecting a set gives the player added bonuses or allows unlocking of Omega Weapons in Challenge Mode. Gold Bolts are used to unlock image galleries, appearance settings, and cheats. Challenge Mode is unlocked once the game is finished. If selected, it re-starts the game with harder enemies, unlocks the Insomniac Museum, and allows the purchase of Omega Weapons.
