Super Magnetic Neo is set in Pao Pao Park, where a gang led by evil baby Pinki has taken over. The professor must send Super Magnetic Neo, a little robot boy with a powerful electromagnet on his head, to stop her.
The game features 3D platforming elements, including running, jumping, and switch-flipping, similar to other platformers of its time. However, it introduces a unique magnetism aspect, where Neo's head can act as a positive or negative pole, allowing him to pull himself towards platforms, launch off them, and navigate environmental puzzles.
The gameplay revolves around using Neo's magnogimmick to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. Enemies come in red and blue, which can be attracted or repelled accordingly, adding a new layer of strategy to the game.
Players must use these skills to progress through four sections of Pao Pao Park and ultimately defeat Pinki. Additionally, there is a challenge mode featuring short stages that focus on proper use of Neo's magnogimmick.
The Sega Dreamcast console was released on 4th August 2000, making it a unique addition to the platformer genre at that time.
