Jade Cocoon 2 is the sequel to Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu. The events of the game take place a thousand years after Levant's adventures in the first game. You play Kafu, a young warrior, who must defend his country from an evil force called Kalma.
The gameplay is pretty similar to that of the first game. It is a monster-breeding RPG. Fight monsters, catch them, breed them, cross-breed them, and create a powerful army that will help you to complete the quest.
Jade Cocoon 2 was released on PlayStation 2 in December 2001. This game belongs to the Action & Adventure genre.

Manual
Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a monster-taming RPG where players act as "BeastHunters" from a central temple. They battle "Beasts of Knowledge" (Kalma) that mimic humans and threaten the forest. Players will hatch, merge, and manage their Divine Beasts while progressing through a story and engaging in combat.
Story
Prologue
In the Age of the Apocalypse, "Monsters of the Apocalypse" attacked the Forest. They were lured by the Requiem of Light and Darkness and sealed within the Eternal Corridor.
However, Gi, the great Nagi prophet, warned: "Man obtains new knowledge through purification. Yet it is a fruit that harbors the Forbidden Seeds."
A new ordeal and a new enemy emerged. Deep in the depths of the Wormhole Forest, the sealed Monsters of the Apocalypse were infected with darkness and ultimately obtained knowledge.
These Dark "Beasts of Knowledge," the Kalma, mimic humans. They aim to go above ground to expel humans, the "pests of the Forest," from the Forest.
With the wise counsel of the Divine Spirit Kikinak, a force of volunteer warriors has been assembled. They wield the BeastAmulet devised in ancient Gehenna Pale. People call them the "BeastHunters."

Tips & Maps
Advice from Cocona
Think about compatibility between the Forests and your first Divine Beast! If you don't know where to go first, think about going to a Forest where its abilities are most compatible.
Advice from Cinnamon
Recovery items are necessities! When their MP runs low, Divine Beasts can use only normal attacks that are only half as powerful, so MP recovery items are important.
Advice from Choco
You using the Warehouse!? Every BeastHunter oughta know that you lose all your items if you lose in combat in the Forest. Leave stuff in the Warehouse and you won't lose it.
Advice from Vanilla
Taking advancement tests is a good thing!! Boosting the number of Divine Beasts on your BeastAmulet will be a big help at the start of the game. Doing jobs from the Bulletin Board may change the product lineup at Kikinak & Co.
