Are you tired of racing cars on their natural habitats? The Micro Machines series might be for you. It involves racing miniatures representing particular vehicle types across various terrains found around the house, such as the desktop or a snooker table.
The game features levels with variation, including racing through snooker tables and avoiding obstacles like pencil-sharpeners. Tanks are also present, allowing players to shoot opponents who get in their way.
Viewed from overhead, races can include up to 4 cars. In one-player challenge mode, players race through the tracks in a set order, selecting opponents and eliminating them as they lose. Winning three consecutive races without using continues earns an extra life and a time-trial race.
The game's real innovation is its multiplayer modes. Players start with 4 points each, and when one car gets far enough ahead, the slider moves in their favor. The first player to reach the end wins the level, unless it's a tie, in which case a sudden-death playoff determines the winner.
