Over Horizon is a side-scrolling shooter where you guide a spaceship through various levels and destroy enemies. The ship's weapons can be fired in two directions and defeated enemies sometimes drop power-ups that equip the ship with different weapons and options. There are three different weapons, including Laser, homing missiles, and bombs.
The "Edit Mode" is an unusual feature that allows players to customize their experience. In it, you can change the positions of your options by pressing the A and B buttons simultaneously, as well as modify the properties of your weapons. For example, you can make the laser behave like homing missiles or the homing missiles like bombs.
Over Horizon was released for the Famicom on 26 April 1991.
