Allied General is the sequel to Panzer General and uses the same turn-based gameplay mechanics. This time the player experiences World War II from the Allied point of view during two British, one U.S. and one Russian campaign. The settings are Europe, Russia and Northern Africa.
The story is complex, with many factors influencing the outcome of each mission. Prestige points are key to success, earned by solving scenarios quickly and used to buy replacement units. Units that survive missions gain experience points, which carry over to the next mission. Each scenario's result affects the next one, so a lost battle doesn't always mean defeat, and a close win can have severe consequences.
Gameplay involves planning unit actions each turn, trying to defeat the enemy. The game requires careful management of units and resources, considering factors like fuel. Allied General provides player feedback during turns, showing probable combat results before issuing attacks. Turns can be undone if no new enemy units are discovered.
Allied General was released on the Playstation in 1996-09-30 and is a mix of Action & Adventure gameplay.
