Ys : A Classic Adventure Begins
In Ys , the player takes on the role of Adol Christin, a skilled swordsman. His journey starts when he meets a fortune teller who sets him on a quest to uncover information about six ancient books called youthful omens . Legend has it that these books held the secrets of an ancient land called Ys, which was lost to time. However, dark forces have stolen the books, and Adol must now find them and defeat the evil force behind the theft.
Gameplay in Ys: The Vanished Omens is fast-paced and action-packed. Rather than mashing a "attack" button, players simply run into enemies they encounter. The way Adol charges at his foes can greatly affect the outcome of battles – charging from behind or the sides deals more damage, while head-on collisions can be deadly if the enemy is stronger.
As players defeat enemies, they earn gold and experience points. Once enough experience is accumulated, Adol levels up and becomes stronger. He can purchase and equip various swords, armor, shields, and other items to aid him in his quest.
