Criticom is a one-on-one fighting game where 8 diverse fighters from across the galaxy vie for a crystal artifact. The game features a sci-fi backstory that involves mystery and intrigue surrounding the crystal and each of the 8 fighters is given a unique storyline to explain why he or she is so interested in the artifact. Among the colorful characters are a giant lizard man named Gorm, a ninja lady named Yenji, a killing robot named S.I.D., and a mysterious vampire-like creature named Demonica who places little value on clothing.
The gameplay is simple yet engaging. The fighting action takes place on a round, elevated platform. Each fighter begins the fight with a full power meter and one power meter refill in reserve that is activated when the primary meter is depleted. Thus, there are no rounds. The fight runs until one fighter is knocked out (no more power in their meter), one is knocked out of the arena (or steps/jumps out), or the time runs out.

Extracted from the original game manual
This is a fantasy strategy game where players lead tribes in a war-torn world. You must battle other factions and heroes to recover a sacred stone and restore peace to the Hyperia star.
Story
The Nezom and Zeral Tribes
The Nezom tribe, composed solely of males, and the Zeral tribe, composed of females, borrowed the power of the sacred stone. This was done to pacify the war-torn Hyperia star.
An emperor, born from the fusion of two representatives of both tribes, was to rule this star for generations.
Shattered Peace
This peace was shattered by the assassination of the emperor and the disappearance of the sacred stone. The sacred stone was a symbol of peace and power.
The Hyperia star once again became a battle-torn world. Various tribes repeatedly clashed. Battles for the sacred stone were unfolding everywhere, fought by heroes representing the tribes and warriors seeking power.

How to Play
Mode Selection
•
TOURNAMENT (1P Mode): Defeat rivals and retrieve the sacred stone.
•
2 PLAYER: One-on-one showdown with friends or rivals.
•
OPTIONS: Change game environment or adjust configuration.
Character Selection Screen
When you select TOURNAMENT mode or 2PLAYER mode, the character selection screen will appear.
•
Character Portrait: Displays your character and the enemy character.
•
Battle History: Here you can check your level, number of wins, number of losses, and battle history. If the game is over or interrupted, your battle history up to that point will be erased.
Press the left or right directional key to select a character. To confirm or cancel your character selection, press one of the △, ○, ×, or □ buttons.
In 2PLAYER mode, after confirming your character selection, press the START button to begin the battle. Pressing the SELECT button will bring up the options screen where you can reconfigure game settings, save the game, and enter passwords for each character. Selecting EXIT will return you to the character selection screen.
Battle Rules
•
Only 1 round per battle.
•
All characters have two life gauges.
•
If time runs out, the one with more energy remaining wins. The winner will receive the challenge of the next challenger.
•
If both players have the same energy when time runs out, or if both players fall out of the ring, it will be a draw.
•
If you fall out of the arena, you lose that round.
Leveling Up
Warriors can level up. To level up, you must defeat all enemies of that level in TOURNAMENT mode and obtain the password. As your level increases, your warrior's special techniques will also increase.
2 Player Options
In 2PLAYER mode, you can go to the option screen by pressing the SELECT button. By selecting LOAD/SAVE, you can go to the password screen and enter the password for ranking up.
If the password is entered correctly, the number indicating the rank will change. If you select EXIT, you will return to the character selection screen.
Holy Stone
You can obtain the holy stone by defeating all warriors of all levels.

Tips & Maps
Password
When you defeat all enemies in one rank, you will be given a 4-character password to rank up. This password is valid until you rank up next or the PlayStation console's power is turned off.
LOAD/SAVE
If you select save and a game has been previously saved, "File Exists Over Write OK?" will be displayed. Saved data cannot be loaded from a slot other than the one it was saved to.
Getting Up
To get your character up quickly after being knocked down, press the Up direction key quickly. If no buttons are pressed, you will automatically get up after about 3 seconds.
Wake-up Attack
To perform a wake-up attack after being knocked down, press the direction key twice in the opposite direction of the enemy. Some characters have a special wake-up attack called "Get Up".
Down Attack
When an opponent is knocked down, press the Up direction key and the X button simultaneously. Down attacks can be performed regardless of the distance from the opponent and can be chained consecutively.
Special Moves
As your rank increases, your character will learn many special moves that require quick command input.
Chain Combo
Some special moves are commands that are input while holding down the R1 and R2 buttons, allowing them to connect to subsequent special moves.
Secrets of Victory
It is important to bring the battle into a favorable state by moving while attacking, luring and avoiding enemy attacks, using throws or chain combos, guarding special moves, and exploiting openings with sliding and down attacks.
Delara Zerai
Born from the Zeral tribe, she rejects all technology and values only battle and honor. She is searching for the killer of her opponent to avenge him.
Enemies & Characters
Dayton Trent
Dayton, a treasure hunter who trusts no one, has obtained the sacred stone that was stolen and disappeared from the Nezom tribe by the Zarai tribe, and plans to sell it for a high price. Dayton moves agilely and repeatedly attacks with the gun and knife he holds in both hands.
Demonica
Demonica, who came from another dimension, in order to use it for worship, has an ancient stone that resembles a sacred stone and has various powers, and by having two right hands, she obtains evil power and tries to dominate the dark world. Demonica initially appears as a tall, captivating humanoid creature, but as she gains experience, she begins to exhibit demonic characteristics.
Sgt. Exene Dulait
Born into a world of endless war, she grew up in a car to save her homeland from the great war. Exene Dulait is a muscular woman (human) who wields short staffs (tonfa) in both hands and is skilled in handling all kinds of weapons.
Gorm
Born from the extinct race called Dorione, they were a peaceful race. Gorm uses a giant bridge as a weapon, but moves slowly. By equipping new weapons, combat speed will increase.
S.I.D.
Against the Estarlon tribe, who came seeking help after being afflicted by a plague, the Nozom tribe and Zero taught them how to transfer their diseased bodies into machines, in order to serve their own race. S.I.D. was designed for war and does not carry portable weapons, but instead possesses high-tech mass-murder weapons.
Yenji
Her family was killed by Nozom and Delara. She trained her mind and body in the wilderness to seek revenge, but when she heard that the sacred stone had been stolen, she set out on a journey. She is tall, her face is covered with a mask, and her body is covered with metal spikes. Her weapons are sharp claws like blades, which she uses to attack opponents. Only Yenji can throw S.L.D.
