PGA Tour 96 was released for the PlayStation console in 1995, and featured three courses that were available in 3D with visible height differences. The player could choose to play as one of ten PGA Pros whose swings were digitized or compete in a game that tracked statistics such as longest drive and driving accuracy.
PGA Tour 96 's gameplay was based on the triple click system, where one click started the swing, another set strength, and the final click controlled accuracy. Players could also perform various shots such as fading or drawing the ball to bend its trajectory or adding backspin for a more accurate pitch or chip shot.
