Ice Climber is a challenging action and adventure game where one or two players must climb their way to the top of 32 different mountains. Each mountain is divided into eight levels of platforms, with an extra stage at the summit. The goal is to reach the top without getting caught by various enemies like polar bears and condors, or navigating treacherous landscapes with falling icicles, moving platforms, and icy floors.
The players have a trusty mallet as their only weapon, which can be used to defeat enemies and break away bricks in the platforms. This allows for more room to jump up to the next level. As the player progresses through the levels, they will encounter increasingly difficult terrain, making it essential to use strategy and timing to overcome obstacles.
