Game Guide
Extracted from the original game manual
This is a sci-fi action-adventure game where players control a team of five cockney space aliens stranded on a mysterious island. They must use their advanced technology and teamwork to survive hostile creatures and warring factions while repairing their ship to continue their vacation.
Story
Background Story
Before man, before Earth, before Planet Moon, there was the Island. The Island is a massive fragment of a long-lost planet, hurtling blindly through space. It is not a dead piece of scorched rock; its radiant colors distinguish it as an anomaly within the void.
True asteroids, decaying and splintered pieces of rock, float quietly around the Island like watchful ghosts. They radiate jealousy from their black pores, desperate for the beauty they will never have.
The surface of the Island is mostly water, if it can be called water. It is rich, bright, and vast. Various land formations can be found within the Island's great sea, small continents composed of stone or ice.
These landmasses boast curious shapes, some curving gently, some jagged. Seen from the sky, the scattered islands resemble the alphabet of a lost deity, perhaps writing his name upon the surface of a world.
Whether these small continents are made of rock or ice, they boast some curious life forms. Plants range from a few inches in height to thousands of feet. Small humanoid creatures occupy quaint stone huts.
A variety of monstrosities, all created by the Island's natural forces, exist, all but one.
Upon the surface of this paradise wanders the giant, Kabuto. He knows that this is his home, but he does not feel that he belongs. From whence he came, he does not know.
The only one of his kind, Kabuto sits alone and longs for company. Every creature he has encountered was different. Whether they came from the skies or from the seas, they tried to destroy him.
Now, Kabuto trusts no one, and guards the one thing that he loves: the Island, his home.
Little does Kabuto know that the Island was home to others before him. In the oceans, there dwells a race of females called the Sea Reapers. These women, along with their many minions, once ruled the Island with strong will and harsh law.
In their pride, they created Kabuto, as a defense against intruders. But Kabuto became conscious of himself, his loneliness, his pain – and he went berserk. The Sea Reapers' creation turned on them, decimating their numbers and driving them into the seas.
In time, a wicked new leader arose to lead the survivors: Sappho, the Sea Reaper Queen. Sappho intends to return the Reapers to their rightful position on the Island, as the dominant species, by whatever means necessary.
Her daughter, Delphi, isn't so sure of her mother's evil practices. By far the youngest and most innocent of the Reapers, Delphi is just learning the mystical powers known to the others. If only she knew of some alternative to evil... if only she could speak with someone from the universe outside the Island...
Perhaps five cockney space aliens on holiday aren't the outsiders Delphi had in mind, but what can you do, eh? Enter Baz, Tel, Reg, Gordon, and Bennett – otherwise known as the Meccaryns (Meccs for short).
After leaving their home planet for an annual lads' holiday at the one and only Planet Majorca, their ship is almost immediately attacked and swallowed by the notorious Giant "Gibbon" Fish. Hurtling through space within the belly of the great ship, all the boys could do was get drunk and wait.
After two months, the Meccs' ship was ignominiously "discharged" from the bowels of the great beast. Sobering quickly, the Meccs piloted their battered ship towards the nearest chunk of rock for repairs. If you haven't guessed already, they ended up at the Island.
Faced with yet another unscheduled layover while restoring their ship, the Meccs decide to make the best of their temporary home. They're used to harsh conditions, so they explore with the aid of suits and weapons developed through superior technology, scouting the strange world of the Island for signs of life.
Just their luck – the natives are already embroiled in their own little war, and the Mecc visitors are most unwelcome! They find a most violent welcoming party.
Forced to remain on the island while repairing their ship, the Meccs have the advantage of teamwork and superior technology when dealing with unfriendlies. Their goal: to get their ship up to top speed and take a well deserved vacation at Planet Majorca. If they have to kill everything on the Island in order to accomplish that goal, well then...
Baz
Baz (short for "Basil") is the leader of the group, the most intelligent of the lot and, consequently, always frustrated by the ineptitude of his mates. That said, he loves his mates like brothers and will do anything to protect them.
Like the rest of the group, Baz loves a pint. Unlike the others, however, he insists on finishing the job at hand before thinking about the fun he's missing.
Reg
Reg is the technical maestro of the group. He's polite, even to the point of being timid. But when he gets pissed off, you'll know it.
Reg is also the womanizer of the bunch - more than anything, he wants to get to Planet Majorca as soon as possible for a few libidinous delights with the beautiful Majorcan ladies.
Tel
In his grating cockney voice, Tel often complains that he's unjustly branded as the complainer of the group. Of course, the irony of this situation escapes him.
Gordon and Bennett
Gordon and Bennett love their beer, love their women, and love their holiday destination: Planet Majorca. They rarely think beyond those three things.
These two fellows are rather dense, but in a lovable way (even when they engage in pseudo-

Delphi Interface
3) Spell Indicator
Next to the soul indicator is the spell indicator. This circular area represents Delphi's current spell. You can toggle between available spells and activate them so long as you have enough soul energy to cast.
4) Weapons Icons
Just like the Mecc interface, your weapons are displayed at the bottom right of your screen. Delphi always possesses a sword and bow, but can acquire other, more powerful bows in shops around the island or in her base.
5) Health Indicator
As with the Mecc interface, your health indicator is in the lower right hand corner of the screen. The meter works the same as the Mecc's health indicator. Hint: Zero health is bad. Delphi will gradually regenerate health so long as she's immersed in water.
6) Targeting Cursor
While you're controlling Delphi, the targeting cursor has the same highlight function as it does when you're controlling the Meccs (see page 10). There are two Delphi specific additions, and they are...
•
Turbo meter - displays how much turbo charge you have.
•
Spell target - displays when target is good for the current spell.
4) Item Description
Text that describes the item currently selected.
5) Player Backpack/Item/Weapon Slots

Smartie Grab/Bubble Spell
This spell allows Delphi to magically ensnare a Smartie from a distance, forming a bubble around it and carrying it back to her.
Teleport
This spell teleports Delphi to a new location and creates temporary clones to confuse enemies.
Repair
Delphi can use this spell to repair damaged structures in her base by targeting them and activating the spell.
Healing
This spell heals a portion of Delphi's health with every cast.
Cluster
Delphi hurls a fist-sized object that bursts upon impact, throwing small explosives in a circle to damage anything in its radius.
Cluster Mine
Delphi leaves a mystical object on the ground that explodes when an enemy comes near, hurling smaller explosives to damage creatures in the area.
Cloak
Casting this spell turns Delphi into a fast-moving, invincible trail of green mist for a short time, poisoning any creature she touches.
Slow Time
Delphi creates a dome of slow time with a fixed radius, slowing down creatures caught within it while she remains unaffected.
Shrink
This spell damages a target creature and shrinks it to half its original size.
Follow
Two projectiles home in on a targeted creature, lifting and holding it in the air, before a third projectile hits and explodes.
Summon Firewall
Casting this spell creates a wall of fire that sweeps forward from Delphi, setting fire to any creature in its path.
Summon Hail
This spell gives a top-down view to target spots, and then giant pieces of hail stream down to strike those points, doing massive damage.
Summon Fire Circle
A cone of fire appears at the targeted point, and walking to it triggers a circular wall of flame that expands outward, burning anything it touches.
Summon Tornado
This spell creates a monstrous tornado that yanks small creatures into the air and damages large creatures nearby, eventually dropping airborne creatures from a great height.
Reaper Racing
In special game levels, Delphi can use the Reaper Ski, a magical aquatic vehicle that can also run on land, augmented with power-ups like turbo boosts and missiles.
Sea Reaper Base
Similar to a Meccaryn base but with magical structures, Smarties are returned to a 'pit' to be bent to your will and work for you, with 'soul drop off' and 'Smartie drop off' points nearby.
Kabuto's Boulder Throw
Kabuto can throw large boulders, creating a large explosion of pulverizing rock and flying stone shards upon impact, even near a cluster of enemies.
Running Kick
While running, pressing the attack button directs Kabuto to give the target a World Cup style boot.
Running Grab
While running, pressing the grab button initiates a running grab where Kabuto slides along the ground, snatching up his target.
Kabuto Level 2
At this level, Kabuto has all his level 1 attacks along with the first level adrenaline attacks.
Adrenaline Punch
This is the first level of adrenaline hand attack, where Kabuto's large fist delivers a powerful blow, making a significant difference in brawls.
Foot Stomp
This is the first level of adrenaline foot attack, where Kabuto stomps his foot down, silencing any screams from small people.
Kabuto Level 3
At this level, Kabuto gains more attacks.
Two-Handed Slam
This is the second level adrenaline hand attack, where Kabuto brings his hands together to form an immense mallet, causing chunks to fly when he swings down on any target.
Jumping Stomp
This is the second level of adrenaline foot attack. See foot stomp above - multiply by two.
Elbow Drop
This is a third level adrenaline hand attack. As timeless as it is punishing, the elbow drop can crush creatures and buildings alike.
Belly Flop
This is a third level adrenaline hand attack. Kabuto leaps into the air, stretching his massive form to poise spread eagled in the air above his target, blotting out the sun itself, then descends like an overweight Uncle Carl, but whatever comes between him and the ground is going to quickly become a small smear.
Butt Flop
This is a third level adrenaline foot attack. Like the belly flop, but with less dignity, Kabuto goes airborne, crashing into the ground gluteus maximus first as if to say to his opponents, "Kiss my hairy monster ass!"
Cannonball
This is a third level adrenaline foot attack. Kabuto's playful side comes to the fore as he folds into a great muscular sphere and hurls himself at his foes.
Magnifying Glass
When Kabuto picks up a special gemstone, he can hold it aloft to fire a wide laser at the ground, which then narrows and grows in intensity, allowing Kabuto to control the laser from a standing position and slowly burn creatures caught in the beam.
Giants
Giants is an action game, so never be afraid to go in blasting. Even if the result isn't favorable, you'll always have the opportunity to replay the mission.
Reaper armies
When you go up against Reaper armies during base building missions, start setting up defenses early and keep an eye on your immediate surroundings just in case they're planning on attacking the rear of your base!
Meccs - Jetpack
Be careful when using your jetpack for long distance flying; you don't want to overshoot a cliff and land in the water (fatal for a Mecc), nor do you want to end up high above the ground with no fuel to ensure a safe landing.
Meccs - Buddies
Don't forget to use your Mecc buddies; they can be a great help during a fight, even if it's just to draw enemy fire away from you.
Delphi - Turbo ability
Once you acquire the turbo ability, you can zip across the landscape rather quickly and easily.
Delphi - Gift shop
Don't be afraid to go back to a gift shop for a quick spell or weapon recharge.
Delphi - Water
If things get a little rough, jump in the water and take a breather; this will not only heal Delphi for tough battles, it'll give her soul energy to launch a counter-attack with spells.
Kabuto - Right of way
Remember: The biggest creature has the right of way.
Kabuto - Smarties
Try to eat evil Smarties whenever you get a chance; you can get much more powerful attacks as you grow.
Enemies & Characters
Meccaryns
More technologically oriented than other races, Meccs rely on guns, bombs, and devices, carrying 3 weapons, 3 items, and 1 backpack in addition to their handgun. They are five cockney space aliens: Baz, Tel, Reg, Gordon, and Bennett, who were swallowed by a giant space fish and defecated near the Island.
Kabuto
A giant, angry bruiser who uses his hands, feet, and entire body weight for primitive but effective attacks, and can hatch smaller offspring to help him. Created by the Sea Reapers to defend the Island, he went berserk and chased them into the ocean, standing over ten times the height of a normal person.
Kabuto's Offspring
Much smaller versions of Kabuto that hatch from eggs laid when Kabuto eats Smarties, and can grow when fed meat. They can be used to protect areas, fetch creatures, attack enemies, or be thrown at targets.
Delphi
The youngest and most innocent of the Sea Reapers and daughter of Queen Sappho, she is growing into her powers and seeks to refine them with her tutor, Yan, to end her mother's evil reign. She can kill Vimps and gather their souls to power the mystical mechanisms of her base.
Smarties
Hardy, indigenous little people who inhabit the island, they are timid but can be very helpful, guiding gameplay, giving mission objectives, and helping build bases. For Meccs and Reapers, they are a primary resource for building and developing new weapons, but Kabuto simply eats them to lay eggs.
Vimps
Extremely docile and not very bright, Vimps are the cattle of the island, found grazing in herds and serving as a food source. Cooked Vimp is a staple of the Smartie diet, Kabuto prefers them raw to regain health, and Meccs use their meat to keep Smarties happy at their base, while Delphi gathers their souls to power her base.
Reaper Guards
The bulk of the Reapers' assault forces, serving as bodyguards, soldiers, and grunts, they lack magical abilities but possess the coordination to fire weapons. They are often found patrolling valleys or guarding settlements with heavy armament, and can interfere with base building.
Sonak
This great lumbering beast is the favored method of transportation for the Reaper Guards, with a rigid hide and natural defense mechanisms including ground-stomping and a destructive scream that disables jetpacks/turbo ability.
Charger
The Charger is an incredibly fierce territorial creature with incredibly tough skin, attacking anything that comes near its nest by charging at high velocity. The only way to damage it is to shoot it in the mouth as it charges.
Rippers
These insect-like creatures, composed mostly of claws and teeth, are often found in packs and serve the Sea Reapers, coming in three sizes with varying abilities and attack methods.
Small Rippers
Small Rippers move slowly, remain above ground, and possess a savage biting attack. Their supply can be cut off by destroying the husks that spawn them.
Medium Rippers
Medium Rippers are tougher than small ones, can move above or underground, and spit flaming orb projectiles. Killing them leaves a glowing sphere that restores moderate health.
Large Rippers
Large Rippers are bulky but fast, moving above or below ground, and can spit a massive blue fireball over long range. Killing them leaves a glowing sphere that restores significant health.
Items & Weapons
Proximity Missile
Based on the RPG, this missile explodes when it comes within 50 feet of its target, making it ideal for hard-to-hit or airborne enemies.
Sniper Gun
A favorite for long-range combat, this weapon fires high-velocity bullets for instantaneous, high-damage hits, though it has long reload times.
Missile Launcher
Similar to the RPG, this weapon fires an explosive projectile in a straight line, doing more damage over a wider area than the RPG.
Homing Missile
A modification of the RPG, this weapon fires a missile that tracks your target; hold the fire button to lock on before releasing.
Millennium Mortar
This weapon lobs a large projectile that detonates on impact with a building or creature, or after a few seconds if it hits bare ground.
Jetpack (default)
This device provides propulsion for moving around the island, with limited energy that recharges over time, allowing for sustained flight.
Jetpack Upgrade
An improved version of the original jetpack, offering better, faster, stronger, and more powerful performance.
Repair Pack
This pack uses your jetpack energy to repair buildings, teammates, and yourself.
Shield Pack
This pack uses jetpack energy to create an invisible shield around you, which deactivates when your jetpack energy is depleted.
Bush Pack
This pack uses jetpack energy to create a camouflage bush around you, allowing you to walk slowly and be invisible to Reaper Guards when stationary.
Deployable Turret
When activated, this pack allows you to drop a machine gun turret that fires on nearby enemies, though it can be destroyed.
Pop-Up Bomb
The most powerful bomb in the Mecc arsenal, capable of massive damage to structures or groups of creatures, but its immense weight makes getting airborne difficult.
Mine
Once dropped, this mine burrows into the ground and pursues any enemy within range, exploding upon impact or within 5 seconds.
Health Syringe
You can use a health syringe at any time to replenish some of your health.
Grenade
Activating a grenade allows you to lob it at a target, where it will explode after a few seconds, effective even when flying.
Flare
If a homing missile is locked on to you, you can jettison a flare to confuse it and make your getaway.
Generator
An upgraded version of the workshop, providing an additional shield to the health of all your base's structures.
Gift Shop 2
This shop offers truly cool weapons of mass destruction, providing access to powerful armaments.
Stone Walls
Upgraded walls made of stone, offering better defense and withstanding more punishment than wooden walls, featuring a gate for entry.
Party House
This structure keeps Smarties happy and inspired, leading to more cool stuff available in the gift shop.
Sword (default)
Delphi can perform graceful and deadly slashing moves, including combination attacks, and can use her turbo ability to close distance quickly.
Bow (default)
Delphi's equivalent of a handgun, this bow fires fast but not powerful shots, and has unlimited mystical ammo.
Lightning Bow
A more powerful version of the regular bow with faster shot speed, making it an ideal sniper weapon.
Hellfire Bow
This bow fires explosive arrows, which are very nasty.
Screamer Bow
This bow fires a screaming skull that homes in on a target once locked on, exploding on impact, useful for fast or flying opponents.
Power Up Bow
Ideal for mass carnage, this weapon fires multiple exploding projectiles at all selected targets within an increasing area when the fire button is held and released.
