Setting Up Your System
Set up your PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system according to the provided instructions. Ensure the system is turned on (the on/standby indicator is green).
Insert the Pro Evolution Soccer™ 2009 disc with the label side facing up. Attach game controllers and other peripherals as appropriate. Follow on-screen instructions and refer to this manual for software information. Memory Card (8MB) (for PlayStation®2)
To save game settings and progress, insert a memory card (8MB) (for PlayStation®2) into MEMORY CARD slot 1. You can load saved game data from the same memory card or any other memory card (8MB) (for PlayStation®2) containing previously saved games.
Pro Evolution Soccer™ 2009 uses at least 185 KB of memory card data to save each game. Ensure you have enough free space. Do not insert or remove the memory card when saving/loading games or after the power button is activated. System Settings

Competition data is saved to MEMORY CARD slot 1 by default, but you can change the MEMORY CARD slot used at the Save and Load Screens.
