Rogue Trooper is a Shoot'em Up game set in a science fiction world where a planned attack on Nu Earth goes wrong, resulting in the massacre of Rogue's comrades. The game starts with Rogue and his comrades launched from a drop-ship, coming under fire from the Norts due to leaked information by a traitor General.

The gameplay revolves around stealth and strategy as Rogue works his way through various levels, trying to take the Norts by surprise while also using his arsenal to unleash hell. The player can switch between Rogue's skills, including Gunnar's sentry abilities, Bagman's ammunition upgrades, and Helm's access to computer consoles.

Rogue Trooper features three skill levels (Normal, Hard, and Massacre) that can be completed to unlock cheats, as well as a checkpoint save feature allowing players to easily resume progress. The game supports multiple platforms, including PlayStation 2 , with different controls using the left thumb-stick for movement and right thumb-stick for aiming.

The game also includes multiplayer modes for up to four players, each with their own attributes and objectives. Players can compete in Stronghold or Progressive arenas, with high scores saved with the user's profile on all platforms, including Windows , Xbox , and PlayStation 2 .
