Barbie Game Girl is an action-packed platformer where BARBIE GAME GIRL must navigate through various levels to prepare for her date with Ken. Her goal is to gather pieces of a complete outfit hidden at the end of each level, while avoiding enemies and obstacles along the way.

The game features two main types of levels: those that take place on land, where BARBIE GAME GIRL must jump from platform to platform in shopping malls, restaurants, and other environments; and underwater stages, where she plays as Mermaid Barbie and uses her swimming abilities to navigate through mazes while avoiding fish and divers.

The gameplay involves dodging enemies, collecting power-ups such as bouncing stars that can freeze them in place, and sometimes even knocking them out of the level completely.
