The main foes in this game are Saber's creations, which Darwin can defeat using various guns and gadgets, such as a jet pack or electronic whip. While fighting is the majority of gameplay, there are also puzzles to solve. These often require the use of Mooch, a fly that can be summoned at any time.

Mooch can be used to reach high areas, deactivate electronic devices, fly through small holes, and even slow down time to pass through fast-moving obstacles. Throughout the game, players can find computer chips and hidden disks that can be used to upgrade Darwin's abilities or access new areas.
