The WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 game features new additions to the WWE franchise, including wrestlers from ECW and new fighting styles.
The game includes a submission system, new weapon choices like guitars, and eight different fighting styles that players can choose for each character. The roster varies depending on the platform, with some versions featuring unique wrestlers not available in others.
Gameplay modes have been revamped, with the season and general manager modes merged into the WWE 24/7 mode (available on PlayStation 3), allowing players to create their own superstar or manage an existing one. The Wii version features a similar mode called Main Event , but without the option to manage wrestlers.
The game also includes a new Tournament mode with various challenges, including Iron Man, Battle Royal, and Hell in a Cell matches. The Xbox 360 versions offer custom music during entrances, while the PS3 version provides a first-person view of those sequences. Both versions offer online multiplayer capabilities.
