The Game Boy Advance version of Avatar the Last Airbender offers a unique take on the platformer genre, differing from its counterparts for other platforms. In this adaptation of the animated TV series, Aang and his friends investigate the disappearance of the Waterbender Hiryu, discovering it has been happening regularly.
Aang starts out as the sole playable character, but soon a group of three characters joins him, including Katara and Sokka. The player can switch between them at any moment to take control of a specific one. The game is mainly played as an action game, with exploration, dodging hazards, and fighting enemies using a bird's-eye view.
However, there is also a strong element of environment-based puzzle-solving. Characters can push boxes to manipulate the environment and each has different abilities. Aang can use a high jump to reach high ledges, Sokka can activate switches using his boomerang, and Katara can construct bridges.
The characters have health meters as well as stamina meters that are drained when performing actions and then quickly refills again. With its unique blend of action and puzzle-solving, Avatar the Last Airbender offers an exciting experience for players on the Game Boy Advance.
