Golden Axe

Players take one of these characters and bash through enemies to reach Death Adder himself. Each character has a special magical ability that can be charged by kicking small blue creatures that drop potions. There are also green creatures that drop food, replenishing your health. Some enemies ride dragons or scorpion-like creatures, which can be knocked off and ridden by the player.

The original arcade game and most conversions allow up to two players, but some versions limit it to one. The Sega Master System version has only one playable character, Tarik, a close relative of Ax Battler, telling the story from his perspective. In contrast, the C64 version allows only one player at a time and is limited in other areas.
