Sonic's adventure takes a dramatic turn as he discovers that Dr. Robotnik has captured the Flickies, his feathered friends, and turned them into badniks. Seven levels stand between Sonic and his final showdown with the evil doctor in pursuit of the Chaos Emeralds.

Sonic 3D Blast brings a unique twist to the classic platformer, offering an isometric view where Sonic can move left, right, forward, and backward. The game's slow pace is a departure from previous titles, with reduced badnik numbers in each section, but players can still use exploration to find hidden continue tokens.

One notable change is the lack of time limits, as completing levels within 10 minutes yields no bonus. To collect all seven Chaos Emeralds, Sonic must first locate Tails or Knuckles and provide them with at least 50 rings.
