Charlie Bucket is a young, humble, chocolate-loving child who lives with a family in poverty. One day, Willy Wonka, the mysterious man who runs his own chocolate factory in Charlie's municipality created a contest; five golden tickets, one in each Wonka chocolate bar, were dispersed randomly around the world. Recipients of each ticket win a one-day tour around Wonka's factory, and one of the five winners will win a prize beyond one's dreams. Will Charlie find one of the tickets? Extracted from the original game manual
In this adventure game based on the story of Charlie Bucket, players guide the humble boy through Willy Wonka's chaotic chocolate factory to rescue the other golden ticket winners. Each level requires the player to solve environmental puzzles and fix broken machinery to save Augustus, Veruca, Violet, and Mike from dangerous mishaps. The objective is to navigate these whimsical yet perilous challenges and ultimately escape the factory in the Great Glass Elevator.
Story
Introduction
This is the story of an ordinary little boy named Charlie Bucket. He is not faster, or stronger, or more clever than other children. Indeed, Charlie is barely strong enough to stand in the wind. His family is not rich, or powerful, or well-connected. In fact, they barely have enough to eat.
Yet Charlie Bucket is the luckiest boy in the entire world. He just doesn't know it yet. Unseen for years, Willy Wonka, the world's greatest candy maker, has decided to invite five children into his fantastic chocolate factory.
Five Golden Tickets have been hidden beneath the wrappers of five ordinary Wonka bars. The lucky children who find them are to be taken on a personal tour of the factory by Mr. Wonka himself. The luckiest child of them all will receive an extra special prize, beyond anything you could ever imagine.
Chapter Summaries and Objectives

In Town: Charlie finds a ten dollar bill in the gutter and must catch it before the wind takes it away. This money will allow him to buy food for his grumbling belly.

The Chocolate Room: Charlie tours Wonka's Chocolate Room with four other children. He discovers Oompa-Loompas and other strange and wonderful things in this area.

The Chocolate Riverbank: Augustus has fallen into the chocolate river. Charlie must chase him down before it is too late.

The Wriggle-Sweets Room: Charlie must pass through this room to get to the Fudge Room to save Augustus. Find four mechanical parts to fix the Wriggle-Sweets machine on your way.

The Fudge Room: Augustus is about to be sucked into the fudge machine. Charlie must overload the machine and rescue Augustus.

The Inventing Room: Violet has accidentally broken the Jelly Bean machine. Charlie must track down the spare parts to get it working again.

Nut Room Garbage Chute: Veruca has fallen down the garbage chute and is headed for the incinerator. Charlie must get to the bottom of the chute to save her.

The Garbage Pipe: Charlie catches up with Veruca in the main Garbage Pipe. He needs to help her escape from the garbage collection machine.

The Fizzy Lifting Room: Charlie finds a Fizzy Lifting Drink that gives a truly uplifting experience. Meanwhile, Mike has reprogrammed and broken the Exploding Candy machine. Charlie must fix the Exploding Candy machine before joining Mike Teavee in the Television Room.

The Television Room: Mike is stuck inside the Television Chocolate System Network after wanting to be the first person sent by television. Charlie must use all the tricks he has learned to fix things and find out where Mike has gone.

Television Maze: Mike has landed in a video game and is now trapped. Charlie must play the game to get him out.

Over the Town: The Great Glass Elevator has broken through the roof and is flying high above the town. Charlie needs to go to his house to tell his parents and grandparents about his adventures.
How to Play
Starting a Game
From the Title Screen, press START to access the Main Menu. Use the Control Pad to move the cursor up and down to highlight NEW GAME, LOAD GAME, or OPTIONS, then press the A Button to select.

NEW GAME: Starts a new game.

LOAD GAME: Loads a previously saved game.
β’
OPTIONS: Allows the player to adjust Difficulty, Sound, and Music, as well as view Credits.
Game Types
Select one of the following modes from the menu:

ADVENTURE: Play as Charlie and join him on his adventures in the chocolate factory.
β’
MINI-GAMES: Play mini-games during the Adventure mode.
β’
OOMPA-LOOMPA ALBUM: View bonus images unlocked during the Adventure mode.
Pause Menu
Press START during gameplay to access the Pause Menu. From here, you can select CONTINUE to return to the game or EXIT GAME to return to the Main Menu. You can also view your remaining number of tries, as well as the number of Square Candies That Look Round and W-O-N-K-A Letters collected. Pressing the B Button will also exit you back to the game.
Collectables, Candy Powers, and Oompa-Loompa Tools
Charlie must pick up specific items to solve puzzles, with some unlocking bonus content.

Square Candies That Look Round: Collect 25 to unlock an item in your Oompa-Loompa Album. Find the entire collection to complete the album.

W-O-N-K-A Letters: Spell out WONKA by finding all the letters to unlock mini-games.
Mini-Games and Levels

To the Juicing Room: Overcome obstacles and roll Violet toward the Juicing Room.

The Juicing Room: Activate the Juicing Machine to juice Violet so she can return to normal size.
β’
Lift-A-Loompa: Use the fudge dipper to fish Oompa-Loompas out of a vat of fudge.
β’
Blueberry Jam: Use the trampoline to bounce the Oompa-Loompas to the Juicing Room.
β’
Nut Room Chaos: Toss the nuts to squirrels and avoid the Scrubberbots.
β’
Chocolate Broadcast: Transmit chocolate treats via Television Chocolate by aiming your chocolate to land next to two others of the same kind.

Shipping and Receiving: Help Oompa-Loompas send out candy boxes in the Shipping and Receiving department.

Hand an Oompa-Loompa a Candy Breaker to break through Rock-Candy walls.
