Battle Cross draws inspiration from classic games as Super Sprint or Badlands , employing a top-down perspective, but spicing things up with collectible items such as bombs or weapons to hinder opponents.
The story revolves around racing through various tracks on futuristic air bikes, competing against other players to reach the finish line first. Each track presents different hazards, including puddles, speed bumps, pinball bumpers, and even cannonballs. The game features 12 courses, with a hidden bonus course that adds an extra layer of challenge.
The gameplay involves controlling a fleet of small air bikes, navigating through tracks while avoiding obstacles and collecting items to gain an advantage over opponents. Players can compete against each other in up to five-player multiplayer mode using the Multitap support.
Battle Cross was released on December 9th, 1994 for the Super Famicom console.
