Metal Max 2 is a sequel to Metal Max, set in a futuristic world where an evil organization called the Grapplers terrorizes the cities. The elders of Mado City invite four famous monster hunters to defend the city, but their leader, Maria, is killed by the Grapplers' leader, Ted Broiler. You, the hero of the game, decide to fight against the Grapplers and become a hunter yourself.

The gameplay involves exploring the world, battling monsters and vehicles in turn-based combat, similar to Final Fantasy games. There are two types of combat: standard character-to-character battles and vehicle battles. Vehicles can be purchased, equipped, and modified like characters, with special attacks and collectible items that upgrade and repair them. As a hunter, you can also hunt down giant monsters for rewards.

The Super Famicom version has a release date of 1993-03-05, and it is an action & adventure game. The Game Boy Advance port adds extra bounties and tanks to the gameplay.
