Peace in the world of fairies is being threatened by the devil king Thanatos, who has cast a spell over the land. Lip, the Fairy of Flowers, escaped the grasp of this spell, and must free her friends, the other fairies, to restore peace.
Panel de Pon is a fast-paced action puzzler that challenges players to make rows or columns of three or more blocks clear by swapping any two blocks horizontally. New blocks will fall from the bottom of the screen, creating combos and new opportunities for clears. The game also features special blocks that can be used against opponents to gain an advantage.
The game offers a range of modes, including a story mode against the computer, a 2-player versus mode, an endless mode, a timed mode, and a puzzle mode where players must clear a set arrangement of blocks in a specific number of moves. The international version of the game was reworked to use characters from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island , released as Tetris Attack .
