Slam Dunk , a basketball game featuring 28 teams, was released on the Super Famicom in July 1994. The game's teams are based on the cities of their real professional counterparts from that era, with one team being an all-star squad.
The gameplay involves exhibition and playoff modes. In exhibition mode, players can choose to turn fouls on or off and set the length of each quarter. The playoff mode pits 8 teams against each other in a championship competition.
Slam Dunk features a unique vertical basketball court design, with only half of the court displayed at any given time. When a player moves the ball from one side to the other, the screen rotates and the other half of the court becomes visible.
The game also includes commentary from Earvin "Magic" Johnson before matches and Chick Hearn providing play-by-play during gameplay.
