Slam-Dunk is a two-player basketball game for the Commodore 64, where you can play against either the computer or another player. The game consists of four quarters of three minutes each, with the team scoring the most points at the end of the final quarter declared the winner. In the event of a tie, an overtime session may occur.
The game features a practice mode, allowing you to hone your skills and master the various moves and plays required to outscore your opponent.
As the player in control of one of your teammates, your movements will influence their actions on the court. On offense, you'll be responsible for controlling the player with the ball, while on defense, you'll guide the player guarding the ball. By moving the joystick right and pressing the button, you can switch to a different controllable player.
Be mindful of fouling, as excessive defense or aggressive play can result in penalties. After five fouls, your team will be awarded free throws. In this mode, simply hit the button to take the shot; made free throws count as one point.
Keep an eye on the shot clock and avoid holding onto the ball, as this can lead to a turnover. Shots taken outside the three-point line are worth three points each, adding strategy to the game's fast-paced action.
