Starting the Game
To start a single player game, ensure that your Game Boy® Advance is turned OFF before inserting the cartridge, as inserting it while ON may damage the system. Plug Frogger's Adventures 2 The Lost Wand™ into the Game Boy® Advance with the label facing outward until it locks into place.
Turn ON the Game Boy® Advance and press START when the Title Screen appears. On the Game Selection screen, select "Story Mode" and press the A Button to choose a save game slot. Press the A Button again to start the game.
If the Title Screen does not appear, turn the system upside down to check if the Game Pak has fallen out. If it has, re-insert it ensuring the label faces outward and it locks securely. For multiplayer instructions, see the sections on Starting Multiplayer with a Single or Multiple Game Paks.
The Stage Select Screen
On the Stage Select Screen, you will see images of the five islands in the game. The island currently in front is the selected one, with its name appearing at the bottom left. Press the L or R Buttons to switch between islands; note that you can only select islands cleared in Story mode.
On the selected island image, small circles represent the separate stages. The blinking circle indicates the currently selected stage, with its name at the bottom right. Use the Left or Right buttons on the Control Pad to select a different stage on that island.
Once the desired stage name appears, press START or the A Button to play. After completing a stage, you will return to the Stage Select Screen. From there, you can play the next new stage in Story mode or replay any completed stage in Story or Time Attack mode.
Saving Games
There are 3 save game slots available in Frogger's Adventures 2 The Lost Wand™. When you turn on the system, you will be asked to "Continue" a saved game or start a "New Game." Choose "New Game" to start from the first level.
After selecting, choose from the list of 3 save slots. An empty slot will be labeled "Empty," while a used slot will show the name of the stage saved there. If starting a "New Game" on a used slot, the game will ask if you wish to erase the old data. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Yes" to erase or "No" to choose a different slot.
Once you have made your selection, saving is handled automatically. Every time you complete a stage, your progress is saved in that specific slot.
To continue a previously saved game, select "Story mode" from the main menu, then choose "Continue" and the desired saved game. Your progress will always be saved in the same slot once chosen.
Time Attack Mode
Once a stage is completed in Story mode, you can revisit it in Time Attack mode. Note that boss stages cannot be played in this mode. The goal is to reach the stage exit in the shortest time possible, with the game automatically recording the three shortest times for each stage.
In this mode, you have infinite lives, but beware of new enemies in new locations. Losing a life costs valuable time, so staying alive is crucial.
To shorten your time, collect Crystal Droplets and Crystal Frogs. These items stop the clock briefly without granting extra lives. Crystal Droplets stop the clock for 1 second, while Crystal Frogs stop it for 3 seconds. Multiplayer Games
The game includes 3 multiplayer games supporting up to four players head-to-head. You do not need four Game Paks to play; see the sections on starting with a single or multiple paks.
Balloon
In Balloon, each player tries to be the first frog to collect all four different colored balloons at their home base. Each frog starts at a tile with a colored diamond matching their frog's color.
Every few seconds, a colored balloon rises from a tile in the center of the stage. Once floating freely, grab it by flicking your tongue at it. This attaches the balloon to your frog. Simply hop onto your home base to deposit it.
You can steal balloons from other frogs by flicking your tongue at theirs, even at their home base. If you steal a balloon, any balloon you held will disappear. White balloons are "Wild Card" and can substitute for any color.
Note that once you pick up a balloon from the center tile, you cannot pick up another from that tile until you deposit yours or lose it.
Race
In Race, up to four players race head-to-head in a special racing stage. All frogs start side by side at one end of the stage. The path narrows, forcing frogs to use the same tiles, including crumbling ones.
When all frogs reach the end, a scoreboard appears showing times and announcing the winner. If a frog "dies," it reappears on top of the last "normal" tile it stood on.
Starting Multiplayer with a Single Game Pak
Playing with one Game Pak takes more time to download and start. Ensure all Game Boy® Advance systems are OFF, then insert the Game Pak into one system.
Connect the systems using ONLY Game Boy® Advance Game Link® Cables. Ensure the connector labeled "IP" is inserted into the system with the Game Pak. Turn on each system.
The player with the Game Pak must select "Single Game Pak vs." on the Game Selection Screen and choose a game (Reverse Tag, Race, or Balloon). Once transferred via the cable, the game will start.
Starting Multiplayer with Multiple Game Paks
The fastest way to play is to have a Game Pak for each player. Ensure all systems are OFF, then insert a Game Pak into each system.
