Bubsy II is the sequel to the popular platformer Bubsy in Claws of Fury . After defeating the evil Woolies, Bubsy must explore a mysterious hyperdimensional mansion filled with portals leading to different areas and times. His mission is to stop an evil organization that threatens the world.
The gameplay in Bubsy II is similar to other platformers of its time. Bubsy can move very fast and jump high, killing enemies by jumping on their heads. The levels are large and accessible from the start, with five types of regular levels: Egyptian pyramid, sci-fi space-like environment, musical instrument world, "green" level with trees and hills, and a side-scrolling airplane section.
