DJ Hero 2 is the follow-up on the faux instrument rhythm game DJ Hero. Using either a standard console controller or the turnstyle peripheral designed for the DJ Hero games, the player must match the rhythm of the music by 'scratching' the music and whilst matching the on-screen prompts in order to score as many points as possible.
Much like other Guitar Hero sequels, DJ Hero 2 has a new soundtrack including music from Lady Gaga, the Chemical Brothers, Dr. Dre, and the Prodigy, as well as improved graphics for sequels. The game also has a new mode called Empire , which is essentially the single-player career. Players take control of their up-and-coming DJ and guide them through their journey to the top. They can also create their own nightclub in cities like London and Berlin for their character, which they can tour and promote, increasing their fame.
The multiplayer starts off much like other rhythm games, but DJ Hero 2 has a new rewind feature. The player has the ability to rewind tracks in multiplayer to correct mistakes made, but only if they have earned it. This temporary ability is awarded when the player achieves certain milestones. The game also features head-to-head mode and lets another player take control of the vocals, requiring them to match pitch and timing as accurately as possible.
DJ Hero 2 was released on October 19, 2010, for the Wii console.
