Tumblestone is a match-three puzzle game where players must clear colored blocks that move down from the top of the screen by shooting them with a character at the bottom. The core gameplay mechanic is different from other match-three games, making it unique and challenging.
In single-player mode, each zone introduces new puzzle elements, such as rainbow blocks that act as jokers, grey blocks that are only in the way, conveyor belts that slide block rows sideways after each move, rotating columns of blocks, alternating "locked" colors, and more. Players must adapt to these changes to succeed.
The game features various modes, including Story mode, Quest mode, Heartbeat mode, Marathon, and Infinite Puzzle mode. Local multiplayer allows up to four players or competitive play against bots, while online multiplayer offers leaderboards and Battle mode, Tug of War, and Puzzle Race options.
