Rayman and his friends are having a normal day in the Glade of Dreams, but their peaceful afternoon is disrupted by an old granny from the Land of the Livid Dead. She sends an army of evil creatures to capture all Electoons and Nymphs, including Rayman and his friends, who must then flee their prison and try to restore order to the Glade before it's too late.
Rayman Origins is a reboot of the Rayman franchise that returns to its 2D platforming roots. The gameplay combines elements of Mario and the first Rayman game, featuring many original characters and enemies from the series.
The atmosphere is different from the original, with a more "wacky" feel. Each level's objective is to rescue as many Electoons as possible, similar to the original game. New additions include Lums, which serve as the game's currency, but each area is heavily guarded by creatures from the Land of the Livid Dead and other enemies. There's also a multiplayer option with up to four players, which feels similar to contemporary Mario games. Players can choose to play as Rayman, Globox, or two Teensies.
