The Last Guy, released on the Playstation 3 in 2009, is a puzzle game where players take on the role of a hero character who must rescue civilians from monster-infested cities around the world. The goal is to save as many people as possible within a set time limit by guiding them to safety.
Players navigate through levels displayed in a top-down satellite image view of real-world cities, avoiding monsters that roam the streets and try to get too close. An infrared mode allows players to spot civilians hiding in buildings, who will form a line behind the hero character. By dashing or speeding up the line, players can quickly clear entire buildings of people. Items such as freezing monsters can be collected to aid the player.
