Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse is a unique take on the traditional zombie game genre. The twist? You play as the undead, fighting off living humans and devouring their brains. This 3D action game transports you to a retro-futuristic city, where Stubbs wreaks havoc over the course of one day.
The story begins with Edward 'Stubbs' Stubblefield, a salesman who met his demise in the 1930s. Fast-forward to 1959, and the wealthy Andrew Monday has built his dream city, Punchbowl Pennsylvania, on top of poor Stubbs' grave. As Stubbs navigates the city, he must confront an array of foes, including police officers, militiamen, scientists, and a deadly barbershop quartet.
Fortunately for Stubbs, each human he kills becomes a new zombie ally, joining him in his quest for brains. The undead also gain access to special powers, such as the ability to stun enemies with flatulence, throw an exploding zombie grenade, or detach their head and use it as a projectile. Stubbs' most powerful skill is his detached hand, which can be used to scout ahead, take control of enemy humans, and turn their weapons against them.
