Boxing for the GameBoy is a fighting game where you play as George Foreman, aiming to win the championship title belt by defeating twelve different boxers in a series of rounds.
The gameplay involves moving your boxer left and right to dodge punches, blocking and throwing jabs using the Up-key. Hitting incoming punches can lead to the opportunity to land a superpunch, dealing more damage. Each fight consists of three rounds of three minutes each, with the match ending when a boxer is knocked down four times or goes down three times in a single round.
When your boxer is knocked down, you must press both punch buttons quickly to get back up. The energy meter is drained when punches are received, and some energy is restored during intermissions and after being knocked down. You can play with two players on all versions except the GameBoy, which uses a password system to save progress.
