Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal is an action-rpg hybrid featuring the cast and universe from the Klonoa game series. The story revolves around Klonoa's wish to go out and become a hero, joining Guntz on a quest to find a mystery character.
The gameplay involves playing from a top-down perspective, with Klonoa able to transform his magic ring into several weapons. In combat, Klonoa must use the right color attack against an enemy to inflict damage. The normal attacks are red and blue, but there's also a special yellow attack that needs to be charged up before it can be unleashed. Defeated enemies usually drop dream fragments and gold.
Collecting dream fragments increases Klonoa's experience, allowing the player to level up and select which stats to increase. Gold can be spent at shops or inns to upgrade Klonoa's equipment. The game also features puzzle sections where Klonoa must eliminate enemies without being seen, with failure resulting in having to start over.
Occasionally, Klonoa will visit locations that require puzzle-solving skills, such as punching enemies from the side or back to avoid detection.
Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal was released for the Game Boy Advance in December 2002 and is an action-packed adventure game that combines exploration and combat.
