The citizens on Nanashi Island have a tradition of celebrating children's transition into adulthood with a ceremony. Young Pockle, however, has slept through his own ceremony and is thrown into prison. To be released, Pockle must abide by strict rules: his face will be blurred out, he'll follow an early curfew, and be under constant surveillance by a robotic police chief.
The game's world is open-ended, with an overall objective of helping people and earning money. However, the player has freedom to decide how to achieve this, completing tasks and activities in any order. The game features a day and night cycle, and Pockle must manage his stamina by eating and sleeping regularly.
