Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F is a rhythm game starring Hatsune Miku alongside fellow Vocaloids Megurine Luka, Kaito, Meiko, and the Kagamine twins . The story follows Hatsune Miku ' adventures as she performs in front of her fans. Press the buttons to the beat of 38 songs created by various music producers through the use of Vocaloid software, and use the points you earn by clearing songs to purchase costumes for music videos or various items and furniture for each Vocaloid's DIVA Room.

The gameplay is all about timing your button presses to match the rhythm of the music. New to this installment are the Star notes, which can only be played by rubbing the Vita's touchscreen or flicking the analogue stick of the PlayStation 3's controller. Additionally, new mechanics such as "Chance Time" and Technical Zones are added into songs to offer more strategy in scoring high, and AR Mode (Live Concert Mode on PlayStation 3) gives players the chance to see Hatsune Miku perform her live routine in augmented reality. Edit Mode has also been expanded upon, allowing players to upload their own music to the game and create music videos with more options than ever before.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F was released on the PlayStation Vita on 30 August 2012.
