Germs: Nerawareta Machi is a first person open-world exploration horror game.
The game takes place in a town built around a coal mine. The player is an unnamed news reporter who returns to the town after 20 years, leaving behind a decline in the city's fortunes. After mysterious lights are seen falling on the nearby mountain and the townspeople start acting strangely, the player begins to investigate the situation.
The game features fast-paced gameplay that progresses six times faster than real time. The town changes around the player regardless, adding to the sense of unease and mystery. While exploring, the player must defend themselves against invading forces and can freely visit shops like gun stores or hotels to restore lost health and stamina.
The town where the game takes place is entirely handcrafted, featuring various public services such as restaurants, warehouses, hospitals, and more. The player can use their car or public trains to travel across distances in the open world. However, it's worth noting that multiple pre-written NPCs play a crucial role in the storyline.
