Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse is a visual novel set in the Muv-Luv Alternative universe. It is a spin-off story set parallel to Muv-Luv Alternative, following a new cast of characters while retaining the setting of the original visual novel.
In 2001, the Japanese Empire was struggling to develop its next-generation Tactical Surface Fighter for its army. To solve this problem, they partnered with the American government to build upon their 3rd Generation TSF, the Shiranui. The project was given the code name XFJ, and Takamura Yui, a 1st Lieutenant in the Royal Guard, was put in charge of it.
The gameplay involves making choices that affect the story, with multiple endings depending on the player's decisions. The game is divided into episodes, each lasting around an hour, allowing players to experience the story at their own pace.
