Guardian is a fast-paced shoot 'em up that bears resemblance to Star Fox. You control your ship as it moves across the surface of a planet, shooting down enemies in an attempt to protect installations. The more you save, the quicker you'll earn extra lives.
Power-ups are scattered throughout the game, offering enhanced weaponry and shields to aid in your quest. The game is played in full 3D, allowing for adjustable camera angles. CD32 controllers are recommended, but keyboard and mouse options are also available.
