The island of Mata Nui holds a dangerous path of evil. In order to defeat it, you must control two heroes in order to solve the puzzles and defeat the enemy characters along the way.
Based on the Lego toy series, Bionicle: Matoran Adventures , your task is to defeat the Bahrag. The two characters you control both have their advantages, and you must swap between the two during play in order to get through each of the 6 worlds.

In this adventure game, players assume the role of a hero on the besieged island of Mata Nui to combat Makuta's forces and restore peace. You traverse diverse regions ranging from jungles to volcanoes, completing specific quests to rescue companions and defeat swarms of Bohrok. By combining your own abilities with those of recruited allies, you must overcome the dangers of each Wahi to save the island from darkness.
Story
Introduction
All is not well on the island of Mata Nui. The Matoran islanders and the Turaga village elders continue to battle the forces of Makuta, the evil spirit-brother of the island's namesake. Makuta cast a darkness over the island that once was a paradise.
Now his minions, the Bohrok, swarm through the swamps, under water, and over ground, high and low, destroying everything in their path. The Matoran keep their faith in Mata Nui and the Legends of The BIONICLE™, which drives them to liberate themselves from Makuta and his beasts.
Select your hero and defeat those who would turn Mata Nui into nothingness at the whim of Makuta. Pick up companions along the way and use their various powers and abilities, along with your own, to rid the island of the Bohrok and the super-powerful Rahi.
Your adventures take you through lush jungle, desert expanses, ice fields, swamps, and volcanic regions as you seek to restore joy and light to Mata Nui. Let peace reign once more by completing these perilous tasks.
Regions of Mata Nui
The island of Mata Nui represents an incredible diversity of terrain. *BIONICLE™: Matoran Adventures* takes you through six Wahi, or regions, of perilous yet stunning territory. Each Wahi requires you to achieve a particular quest, and you can read a brief objective when entering a new Wahi.
LE-WAHI
The jungle-covered region around the southern tip of the island is thick with hanging jungle vines and tall trees abuzz with birds and insects. Since the attack by the Bohrok, Matau has gone missing.
You must find him and lead him back to safety!
PO-WAHI
The rocky desert wasteland located in the far north of Mata Nui features frequent sandstorms that shape strange cliff formations dominating the land. The mystical Priest stones have long been hidden away for fear of them falling into Makuta's grasp.
With the help of Onewa, find all three of them and restore peace to Po-Wahi.
TA-WAHI
The eastern region is home to the island's giant volcano, where burning lava flows like rivers down the mountain. Vakama has lost the ancient song and is now stranded somewhere in the Wahi.
Rescue him, find the ancient song, and together, you can save Ta-Wahi!
KO-WAHI
This frozen mountain region surrounds Ko-Koro on the west coast. Deadly glacier crevasses can swallow the unwary, making it a cold, dangerous place.
Rumors say that the legendary Koli statue lies hidden somewhere in the Wahi and opens a secret gateway to Ga-Wahi.
GA-WAHI
Home to the floating village of Ga-Koro, which is built of strong, elastic seaweed drifting in the water below impressive white cliffs. Since the dawn of Makuta's awakening, all water portals have been shut.
Nokama is defenseless and needs your help: find her, reopen the portals, and take her back to Ga-Koro.
ONU-WAHI
This region consists of caves and quarries around Onu-Koro, the village of huge caves dug deep underground and safely hidden from the surface. Care should be taken when entering this labyrinth of tunnels and caves.
Using the torches of light, make your way through this maze. Who knows what will await you at the end?

Setting Up
1. Turn OFF the power switch on your Nintendo® Game Boy® Advance. Never insert or remove a Game Pak when the power is ON.
2. Insert the BIONICLE™: Matoran Adventures Game Pak into the slot on the Game Boy Advance. To lock the Game Pak in place, press firmly.
3. Turn ON the power switch. The language selection screen appears. Press the Control Pad ↑↓ to highlight your preferred language, then press the A Button. Legal and introductory screens appear.
4. Press START to advance to the BIONICLE: Matoran Adventures title screen.
5. When the title screen appears, press START to advance to the Main menu.
Main Menu Overview
The threat of the Bohrok is intensifying and the Rahi only grow stronger...there's no time to waste. Just a few preliminary settings and then you're on your way! Press the Control Pad to cycle through the menu choices and make some basic setups.
•
NEW GAME: Begin a new adventure of the Matoran vs. the Bohrok.
•
RESUME GAME: Continue a previously saved game.
•
OPTIONS: Change SOUND FX, MUSIC, and DIFFICULTY options.
Starting a New Game
1. Press the Control Pad ↕ to highlight one of the two available slots for saving your game. Press the A Button.
2. If you pick an occupied slot, you are questioned whether to overwrite the data in that slot. Press the Control Pad ↕ to highlight YES or NO. Press the A Button to confirm, or the B Button to cancel. Be careful not to unintentionally overwrite previously saved games.
3. Select a character to begin your adventures. Press the Control Pad ↕ to highlight one of the available Matoran. Press the A Button to proceed.

You begin the game with a single Matoran character. Unlock additional characters as you successfully collect all mask pieces hidden within each level.
•
Checkpoints determine the area where you respawn when your character loses a life. Games are saved only upon the completion of a Wahi (Region).
Resuming a Saved Game
You can save up to two games in BIONICLE™: Matoran Adventures. Press the A Button to continue a game, then press the Control Pad ↑↓ to cycle through the two save-game slots. Press the A Button to resume your selected game.
Options Menu
1. Press the Control Pad ↕ to cycle through the various options, then press the A Button to select.
2. Press the Control Pad ↔ to adjust the volume level for the Music and Sound FX.
3. Press the Control Pad ↕ to select EASY, MEDIUM, or HARD in the Difficulty settings.
4. Press the A Button to accept changes and return to the Options menu. Press the B Button to return to the Main menu.
Level Objectives
•
Ko-Wahi: The Koli Statue is the main objective. Retrieving it is required to exit the level.
•
Ga-Wahi: The Key Stones are the main objective. Retrieving them is required to exit the level.
•
Onu-Wahi: Torches of Light are not required to complete the level but help you see better in the darkness of the caves.
Controls
Move your character through the various Wahi of Mata Nui, collecting pieces of masks and various Power-Ups. Along the way you will meet companions who help you proceed and defend against the advances of Bohrok and Rahi.
•
Move: Press the Control Pad to move forward, backward, and up ladders.
•
Jump: Press the A Button. To double jump, double tap the A Button.
•
Attack: Press the B Button to throw your disc.
•
Power Up: Once you have obtained four Disc Power-Ups, you can press and hold the B Button to power up your disc.
HUD Elements
•
Health Powerup: Pass over these icons to increase the health bar indicator by one notch.
•
Elemental Powerup: Collect these powerups to increase the elemental powers of the Turaga.
•
Disc Powerup: These powerups upgrade your Matoran's disc with more power and the ability to fly further.
•
Checkpoints: Carved stone heads are checkpoints where you can save your progress. If you lose your life prematurely, you restart at the last checkpoint passed.
•
Mask Pieces: Collect all the mask pieces in each level to unlock characters.
•
Extra Life: Pass over these icons to earn an extra life.
•
Buttons: Buttons require action from the Turaga.

HEALTH
Pass over these icons to increase the level of your health meter by a single tick mark.
ELEMENTAL POWER-UP
Collect these to enhance the Turaga's Elemental Power strength.
DISC POWER-UP
These upgrade your Matoran's disc with more power and the ability to fly a greater distance.
CHECKPOINT
The carved stone heads are checkpoints to record your progress. Should you meet an untimely demise, you restart at your last passed checkpoint.
MASK PIECE
Collect all the mask pieces on each level to unlock playable characters.
EXTRA LIFE
Pass over these icons to add a life to your character.
MYSTIC STONES
The goal of the Po-Wahi level is to collect the mystic stones. Without them, you will not be able to leave this level.
ANCIENT SONG
The goal of the Ta-Wahi level is to find the ancient song. Without it, you will not be able to leave this level.
STATUE OF KOLI
The goal of the Ko-Wahi level is to find the statue of Koli. Without it, you will not be able to leave this level.
KEYS
The goal of the Ga-Wahi level is to collect these keys. Without them, you will not be able to leave this level.
TORCHES
You are not required to collect the torches in order to leave the Onu-Wahi level, but they will help you see better as you move inside the caves.
Tips & Maps
Trailing Companions
Local Turaga elders can be recruited by running past them to assist with puzzles and obstacles requiring teamwork. Use the L or R button to switch characters and the B button to activate the Turaga's elemental power.
Bohrok
These creatures roam Mata Nui, toppling forests and crumbling mountains as they roll into tight balls to mow down everything in their path. You must figure out how to defeat them.
Rahi
Rahi are creatures of Mata Nui made to serve Makuta by infected masks. They are harmful but can be easily overcome if you make the right choices.
Bosses
You encounter three main bosses between specific Wahi as you progress. Their defeat is the ultimate test of skill and bravery, and is key to saving Mata Nui.
Pause Menu
Press START to pause the game, then use the Control Pad to highlight CONTINUE or EXIT GAME and press the A Button to select. Press the B button to launch your disc, and hold it after obtaining four powerups to use them.
Travel Companions
Local elder Turaga help you cross regions and become your travel companion when you pass them. Use both characters to finish the game as many obstacles require teamwork, switching with the L or R button and using elemental powers with the B button.
Enemies & Characters
Kongu
One of the most talented residents of Le-Koro who loves birds and handles them with ease.
Huki
Resides in Po-Koro and is the greatest goal scorer of all time at Koli, a soccer-like sport.
Jala
Longs to explore Mata Nui but understands that his fellow Ta-Koronan do not like to travel.
Matoro
Known as the sole interpreter of Nuju's mystical stories.
Maku
Lives in Ga-Koro and often sneaked away in her canoe to spy on Huki before the Bohrok.
Onepu
Has been crowned champion of the Great Ussal Race for the past five seasons in a row.
Matau
The elder of Le-Koro in the region of Le-Wahi.
Onewa
The elder of Po-Koro in the region of Po-Wahi.
Vakama
The elder of Ta-Koro in the region of Ta-Wahi.
Nuju
The elder of Ko-Koro in the region of Ko-Wahi and a telepathic Turaga who tells mystical stories.
Nokama
The elder of Ga-Koro in the region of Ga-Wahi.
Whenua
The elder of Onu-Koro in the region of Onu-Wahi.
Bohrok
Appear everywhere on Mata Nui, capable of rolling like armadillos, and destroy everything in their path.
Rahi
Creatures of Mata Nui who serve Makuta by infecting masks; they are harmful but can be easily defeated.
