About

Terry Bogard debuted as the heroic martial artist in the original Fatal Fury (1993) seeking revenge against Geese Howard. He returned as a playable fighter in sequels like Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury Special, and Real Bout Fatal Fury. He also appears as a veteran fighter in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, sporting a redesigned look as a mentor figure.
Designed by Hiroshi Matsumoto, the character became the primary mascot for SNK's fighting game ecosystem. His signature aesthetic—consisting of a red cap, red jacket, and fingerless gloves—became iconic during the 1990s arcade boom. In terms of gameplay, he popularized distinct special moves such as the "Power Wave," "Burn Knuckle," and "Crack Shoot," which utilized the multi-plane battle systems unique to Fatal Fury (1993) and Fatal Fury 2 (1993).
Beyond the core series, he serves as a central figure in The King of Fighters crossover franchise, representing South Town alongside his brother Andy Bogard and friend Joe Higashi as part of Team Fatal Fury. His mechanical evolution across Fatal Fury Special (1993) and Real Bout Fatal Fury (1993) introduced advanced combo systems and environmental hazards. In Garou: Mark of the Wolves (1993), his fighting style shifted to incorporate the "T.O.P. System" and "Just Defend" mechanics, reflecting his transition from a brash street fighter to a disciplined master. This mechanical depth solidified his legacy as a cornerstone of competitive 2D fighting games.
