About

The Flash is the playable protagonist in the 1992 and 1993 action-platformers titled 'The Flash' for the Sega Master System, Game Gear, and Game Boy. He also appears as a playable fighter in 'Justice League Task Force' (1995) and stars in the Game Boy Advance spin-off 'Justice League Heroes: The Flash' (2006). His gameplay typically revolves around high-speed traversal and rapid-fire combat maneuvers.
The early 1990s adaptations developed by Probe Software translated the character's signature speed into time-attack mechanics. In the Sega Master System and Game Gear versions of The Flash, players must navigate maze-like levels to find and defuse bombs planted by the Trickster, utilizing a limited dash meter that drains upon use. The 1993 Game Boy release, published by THQ, similarly emphasized momentum, requiring precise jumping while running at high velocities to avoid hazards.
For the 1995 fighting game Justice League Task Force, the character's abilities were adapted into a traditional 2D fighting system. Developed by Sunsoft and Blizzard Entertainment, this iteration features special moves such as the "Spinsonic" and rapid-fire punches, balancing his lower defensive stats with high mobility and zoning capabilities.
WayForward Technologies expanded the character's mechanical depth in Justice League Heroes: The Flash. Operating as a companion piece to the larger console release, this beat-'em-up introduces a slow-motion "Speed Force" mechanic, allowing players to dodge attacks and chain combos. It also incorporates a helper system where players can summon other DC heroes for screen-clearing attacks, marking a shift toward cooperative-style combat design within his solo titles.
