Sega Tetris , an officially licensed Tetris game, was originally made for arcades and can be played in both single player and multi player modes on the Sega Dreamcast. The game features polygonal graphics with animated backgrounds, which change as you progress through the game, taking you to different settings.
When playing alone, the game is true to the original Tetris , but with some differences. You control the blocks using a joystick and rotate them with two buttons. As you progress, the speed of the falling block increases, making it challenging. The game also features a slot machine, where the symbol that stops on it depends on how many lines you've cleared.
The two player versus mode adds special attacks to the gameplay. By clearing lines, you can activate joint attacks, where two stuck-together blocks will fall or long blocks will rise from the bottom of the playfield. Clearing multiple lines apart also activates special attacks, such as a missile attack that destroys a block and a K.O. attack that knocks out your opponent for a short time. The game also features a four player mode, where two cabinets are connected, and on the Dreamcast version, multiplayer can be played online.
