General Chaos is an arcade-style squad RTS where the player controls a team of five soldiers in a limited battleground during a classic war between Red and Blue forces. The goal of the game is to push the frontline to the enemy headquarters by winning individual battles and beating them at their own capital. The game features five different types of soldiers, each with its unique weapon and attack range: Gunner, Launcher, Chucker, Scorcher, and Blaster. Before each battle, players can choose the composition of their team from four available options: Assault team, Brute Force, Commandos, or Demolition.
Gameplay is straightforward to learn, with the A button firing at the nearest enemy, B moving to a target location, and C cycling through soldiers. The use of the Commando team changes the controls, with the directional pad controlling a soldier directly and B calling the nearby soldier. However, players must consider factors like distance from the target and angle of attack to succeed in battles.
When two opposing soldiers face off, they engage in a brawl, which stops the battle and puts the player in direct control of the soldier: A punches, B kicks, and C blocks. Rescuing downed soldiers is possible if there are enough medics available, earned at the end of each battle based on the player's performance.
The game supports up to four players, allowing for cooperative or competitive play.
